About the Podcast
Machine Dreams explores the inner life through the lens of depth psychology — the archetypes, the unconscious, the symbolic life — at the specific moment when artificial intelligence is transforming what it means to think, to dream, and to be human.
The machines are literally dreaming. The major AI laboratories now use dreaming as a technical term — the process by which artificial neural networks consolidate memory, reduce error, and develop more reliable cognition. Philip K. Dick saw this coming. The interior psychologist has watched it arrive.
And at the same moment, the people are losing access to their own interior life. Their own dreams. Their own interior weather.
That gap is what this show is about.
The Format
Each episode is built in two movements.
Movement I — The Frame: A theoretical investigation. An archetype, a cultural pattern, a concept from depth psychology that illuminates what other frameworks miss. Not a lecture — a thinking-out-loud conversation, at the pace of understanding.
Movement II — In the Consulting Room: The same idea brought into the room between a therapist and a patient. What does this archetype look like when it is sitting across from you? What does the patient say, feel, resist? Where does the theory become undeniable because it is happening right now? All clinical material is composite.
